Picture this: hundreds of ant warriors clashing with gnashing mandibles while formic acid artillery rains down. It’s night, and the last workers are rushing back underground, dodging beetles to deliver food to the nest. Your stockpile is empty, and without more supplies, reinforcements won’t hatch for the ongoing war between the dueling empires of the undergrowth.
- Starting from a central room with your queen, command your workers to develop and optimize your nest—a vast network of storerooms, nurseries, and hallways. Dig through a maze of soil and bedrock searching for food and fending off other underground creatures. Venture beyond your nest to see what the world above has to offer. Seeds, nectar, fungus, other insects, and even amphibians are on the menu, but each food source has its own strategic trade-offs and challenges. Will you fight off the ladybugs depleting your honeydew drops, or is the risk from nocturnal creatures too high for your young colony? Every decision impacts your colony’s survival so be quick to adapt.
- Manage multiple ant species with different attack patterns natural weapons and evolutionary paths to tackle the specific dangers of your current biome. By day you will compete with other ant colonies raiding enemy nests and defending your own. Prepare to coordinate simultaneous war efforts across multiple maps as threats and opportunities constantly evolve.
- Workers rush in from the surface, bringing valuable food to reinforce the front lines as new warriors emerge from the nurseries, following pheromone trails. They are the last defense of the colony, born to hold the line!
- Design and organize multiple nurseries, assigning individual pheromone groups that take orders through pheromone markers and adjustable rules. Each pheromone group can be specialized on the fly—focused on collecting food, combat, or both. When the colony is starving and new eggs aren’t hatching, will your warriors gather food at the risk of being picked off by enemies, or will they escort workers to ensure their safety at the cost of efficiency elsewhere?
- In special game modes, you can raise multiple species in the same colony, changing your battle strategy. Trap-jaw ants fight in melee and leap back to heal. Leafcutter majors draw enemy aggression to protect allies. Wood ants can evolve to fire formic acid as long-range artillery or in rapid straight lines.
